'Most of the pieces on this album are previously unreleased material found on Simon's tapes after his death in December 1997. Exceptions are 'Piano Music', which appeared on the Preludes Airs and Yodels compilation, and 'Kora Kora' and 'Silver Star', which were on the Union Cafe album. 'Lullaby' is a new peice completed by Simon but recorded after his death by friends and members of Penguin Cafe Orchestra.
The other fourteen pieces were played and recorded by Simon at various times and places (some unknown). 'Shelter' and 'Cajun Piano' are sketches of pieces Simon planned to record fir his next album, which would have also incuded 'Lullaby'. Less specifically, he often imagined a future collection of piano music - not to be confused, of course, with this retrospective one.'
